A Friday evening fire left one mobile home a total loss and heavily damaged a neighboring home, according to Dublin Fire Marshal Robbie Cecil.

He said the mobile home where the blaze originated was fully engulfed when Dublin Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after being dispatched at 7:16 p.m. to Walter’s Mobile Home Park on Lee Highway in the vicinity of Pulaski County Middle School.

Cecil said all of the occupants were out of the structures when firefighters arrived on the scene, so no injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. However, heat from the flames had already caused extensive damage to the siding of an adjacent mobile home. “It’s like it melted the side,” he said.

Cecil said the damaged residence must be repaired before it can be occupied again. He believes it can be repaired.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.

Dublin Fire Department was assisted by Pulaski Fire Department, which supplied an engine and manpower, and Newbern Fire Department, which responded with its tanker, air truck and light truck. Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Pulaski County Public Safety also assisted with the scene.

Just three days after responding to a fatal fire in Parrott Friday, Twin Community Fire Department was dispatched early Sunday to a residential fire on Parrott River Road. This time, however, the outcome was much better.

Chief Chuck Nester said the homeowner was able to “knock down” the fire before firefighters arrived on the scene. This contained the damage to one wall.

Although Pulaski County public safety and sheriff’s office responded to the 5 a.m. fire, Nester said no additional fire assistance was needed.

According to the sheriff’s office, no additional information is available on Thursday night’s fatal fire in the 6000 block of Virgil Lane in Parrott. Major Daniel Johnson said authorities are still trying to locate next of kin of the person whose body was found inside the residence when the fire was extinguished.

An investigation is continuing into the 10:30 p.m. fire.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of an Aug.
